Pueblo, CO – A significant winter storm is expected to bring snowfall and freezing temperatures to southern Colorado starting Monday night, creating potentially hazardous travel conditions into Tuesday morning. Forecasters warn residents to prepare for icy roads and limited visibility, especially during the early Tuesday commute.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Pueblo, snow is likely to begin late Monday, with up to 3 inches expected by sunrise Tuesday. Temperatures will drop as low as 20°F overnight, and winds could reach 10 mph, making conditions feel even colder. Drivers are urged to exercise caution on major routes, including Interstate 25, and plan for possible delays during peak travel times.
Tuesday will remain cold, with high temperatures near 26°F and a chance of lingering snow showers in the morning. By Tuesday night, skies will clear, but temperatures will plummet to the teens, bringing the risk of frostbite for those outdoors without proper protection.
The week ahead looks to stay chilly. Wednesday and Thursday will see mostly sunny skies but daytime highs will only reach the low 30s, with overnight lows in the teens. By Friday, a slight warming trend may push highs into the low 40s, offering a brief reprieve from the deep freeze.
Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts, dress warmly, and prepare emergency kits for vehicles. Updates will continue to be provided by the National Weather Service as conditions develop.
