Wilmington, NC – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for southeast North Carolina and northeast South Carolina from midnight to 9 a.m. Friday, as wind chills are expected to drop to 12°F.
The National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington warns that the coldest temperatures will be felt in areas such as Myrtle Beach, Wilmington, and Florence. Prolonged exposure to the cold could cause hypothermia, especially for vulnerable populations.
Officials advise residents to bundle up when outside, bring pets indoors, and check on elderly neighbors. Space heaters should be monitored closely to avoid fire hazards.
This Arctic blast is expected to ease by Friday afternoon, with milder temperatures returning over the weekend.
