The National Weather Service (NWS) in Shreveport reports that wind chills will plummet as low as 3°F in some areas, including Shreveport, Monroe, and Longview, TX.
Health officials warn that frostbite can occur within 30 minutes on exposed skin. Residents are urged to wear layered clothing, insulate exposed pipes, and avoid prolonged outdoor exposure.
With black ice possible on roadways, drivers should be cautious during early morning commutes. Temperatures are expected to rise gradually by Friday afternoon.
