Greenville, SC – An urgent Freeze Warning has been issued for portions of northeast Georgia, western North Carolina, and the Upstate of South Carolina, as overnight lows are expected to fall to around 30 degrees early Saturday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Greenville-Spartanburg, the warning is in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM EDT Saturday, November 1, and includes Habersham County in Georgia; Caldwell, Burke, Rutherford, and Polk Mountains in North Carolina; and Oconee, Pickens, and Greenville Mountains in South Carolina.

Forecasters warn that frost and freeze conditions could kill sensitive crops and vegetation and damage unprotected outdoor pipes. Residents are advised to cover plants, disconnect hoses, and drain sprinkler systems before temperatures drop overnight.

This freeze marks one of the first widespread sub-freezing events of the season, signaling the arrival of colder air across the southern Appalachians and foothills. Areas including Greenville, Lenoir, Morganton, and Clarkesville could all wake up to a hard frost by sunrise Saturday.

Temperatures are expected to rise into the upper 40s and low 50s later in the day, but another cold night could follow early next week if skies remain clear.
