Coal City, IL – Coal City Intermediate School will begin an asbestos abatement project on Monday, Nov. 11, to ensure a safe environment for students and staff. The project, managed by DEM Services, Inc., will involve strict safety measures to contain and remove asbestos from the school.
The district confirmed that all impacted areas will be isolated with visible barriers to prevent exposure. According to school officials, air quality monitoring will continue throughout the project to ensure the safety of everyone on-site.
Jason Smith, Chief School Business Official (CSBO) for Coal City School District, stated that the project is scheduled to last until Nov. 22. The district advises staff and students to avoid the project area until completion.
