CLEVELAND, Ohio – A sharp cool down is on the way for northern Ohio as a cold front pushes through late Wednesday into Thursday, bringing widespread rain and a chance for thunder before temperatures drop nearly 20 degrees.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, rain will begin moving into the region Wednesday evening, with the best chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms arriving overnight into Thursday morning. Cities from Cleveland to Youngstown and Toledo can expect widespread rainfall, with probabilities of precipitation above 70% for much of the region.
High temperatures will fall from the upper 70s and lower 80s on Wednesday to just the 60s on Thursday, making for a much cooler day across northeast Ohio. The cooler air will be accompanied by breezy conditions, and drivers should plan for wet roads during the Thursday morning commute.
Residents are advised to keep rain gear handy and prepare for slower travel, especially during the morning hours. While severe weather is not expected, lightning and localized downpours remain possible tonight.
The cold front clears the region by Thursday evening, but cooler-than-normal conditions are expected to linger into the weekend.
