Champaign, IL – The Champaign-Urbana Public Health District (CUPHD) has announced the opening of multiple cooling centers across the area amid the current heat wave.
According to CUPHD, these centers provide a refuge from extreme heat with free breakfast and lunch for kids 18 and under, educational TV, free WiFi, and books. Although CUPHD will be closed tomorrow in observance of Juneteenth, other cooling centers will be available during business hours at various locations, including Strides Shelter, Champaign Public Library, and Urbana Free Library. Additional sites include Lincoln Square Mall, Champaign City Building, and Market Place Mall.
