Lake Charles, LA – A Cold Weather Advisory remains in effect for several central Louisiana parishes, including Avoyelles, Evangeline, Rapides, St. Landry, and Vernon, until 8 a.m. Friday.
The National Weather Service reports wind chills as low as 18 degrees due to cold temperatures and gusty winds. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can result in frostbite and hypothermia if precautions are not taken.
Residents in affected areas, including Alexandria, Ville Platte, and Leesville, are advised to bundle up in layers, including hats and gloves, and limit outdoor exposure. Pets should also be brought indoors to avoid health risks.
With freezing temperatures persisting, drivers should be cautious of icy spots on roadways, particularly in rural areas.
