Indianapolis, IN – Central Indiana residents should prepare for a week of increasing temperatures and potential severe weather as we approach the July 4th holiday. The US National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a forecast indicating a significant rise in storm activity and heat levels starting Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, storm chances will begin to rise on Wednesday, with the highest likelihood of severe storms occurring in the afternoon and evening. The area most at risk includes the region southeast of a line from Terre Haute to Muncie. These storms could bring strong winds, heavy rain, and potentially severe weather conditions.

High temperatures are expected to range from 80 to 93 degrees through Thursday, with dew point temperatures in the 70s making the air feel particularly humid and sticky. This combination of heat and moisture will contribute to uncomfortable conditions across the region.

Tonight, residents can expect cloudy skies with temperatures dropping to a low of 52-59 degrees. On Tuesday, temperatures will rise to 83-90 degrees, with storms developing late in the evening, particularly in the northwest.

Wednesday’s forecast calls for scattered thunderstorms throughout the day, with high temperatures between 85 and 93 degrees. By Wednesday night, the storms may intensify, bringing the potential for severe weather. Thursday’s weather will remain unsettled with temperatures between 80 and 88 degrees and continued storm chances into the night.
