Indianapolis, IN – Indianapolis residents can expect scorching temperatures and potential thunderstorms throughout the holiday week, with severe weather conditions looming on the horizon.

According to the US National Weather Service Indianapolis, the heat is ramping up with temperatures climbing into the upper 80s. The high humidity will not arrive until Wednesday, increasing the chance of daily thunderstorms, some of which could be severe. Today’s high is expected to reach 88°F under mostly sunny skies. By Wednesday, the temperature will remain around 88°F with a heat index of 100°F and a 40% chance of thunderstorms in the evening.

Thursday’s forecast includes a significant 60% chance of thunderstorms with temperatures dropping slightly to a high of 81°F. Friday will also see storm activity, with a 50% chance of thunderstorms and a high of 85°F.

The 4th of July on Thursday will be particularly concerning with a high of 82°F and an 80% chance of thunderstorms, which could disrupt outdoor celebrations. The stormy weather is expected to continue into Friday with similar conditions.

Despite the potential for severe weather, the weekend looks more favorable. Saturday’s forecast calls for sunny skies and a high of 82°F, while Sunday will see a high of 86°F with clear conditions.
