The highest potential for rain remains in southern Illinois, with a 60-70% chance of at least 1 inch of rain, especially near I-70 and I-55. With the heaviest rain expected south of I-72 and lingering showers east of I-55, weekend travel may be affected. Officials advise keeping updated through weather alerts and avoiding flooded roads.
