Wichita, KS – A Freeze Warning has been issued for much of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas as sub-freezing temperatures are expected to reach as low as 29°F early Monday morning. The warning will be in effect from 2 AM to 9 AM CDT, with the coldest temperatures anticipated during the overnight and early morning hours.

According to the National Weather Service, the freeze could cause significant damage to tender plants, crops, and unprotected outdoor plumbing. Cities like Wichita, Salina, Hutchinson, and McPherson will experience the brunt of the cold, with areas further east, including Parsons and Chanute, also affected.

Residents in the impacted areas are urged to take steps now to protect sensitive vegetation by covering plants or bringing them indoors. Outdoor plumbing should be insulated to prevent freezing. Farmers are advised to protect crops that may be vulnerable to freezing conditions.

This freeze event is expected to be brief, but its potential to harm crops and landscaping makes it a critical event for those in the affected regions. Stay tuned for further updates as the situation develops.
