Kansas City, MO – A freeze warning has been issued for portions of Kansas and Missouri, with sub-freezing temperatures expected to impact the region tonight and into Monday morning. According to the National Weather Service, areas of northeast Kansas and northwest Missouri could experience temperatures as low as 27°F, which may result in frost and freeze conditions. The freeze warning will be in effect from midnight tonight until 9 a.m. Monday.

Following this, a freeze watch has also been issued for late Monday night through Tuesday morning, with temperatures potentially dropping to 25°F in some areas. This prolonged cold spell could threaten sensitive vegetation, such as crops, and damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Residents are urged to take precautionary measures to protect tender plants, outdoor plumbing, and other sensitive items from the freezing conditions. With the potential for widespread impacts, local farmers and homeowners should prepare accordingly to minimize damage.

The freeze warning and watch cover a large area, including Kansas City, St. Joseph, Independence, Leavenworth, and many surrounding communities in both Kansas and Missouri.
