Champaign, IL — A 14-year-old from Champaign has been arrested following a false 9-1-1 call reporting an active threat at Centennial High School. Police were dispatched at 2:01 p.m. on September 9, after the call indicated a potential armed individual at the school. Authorities found discrepancies in the caller’s story, prompting a thorough search of the campus.
Officers, along with the School Resource Officer, cleared the buildings and determined no threat existed. Following an investigation, it was discovered that the call had been made by a student.
According to Champaign Police, the teenager provided false information to emergency dispatchers. After interviewing the student and their parent on September 10, the teen was arrested and taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.
