Cass County Accident Leaves Passenger Injured; Investigation Ongoing

Jefferson Township, MI – A two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Pine Lake Street and Dailey Road injured one person Saturday evening.

According to Cass County Sheriff Richard Behnke, the crash occurred around 6:21 p.m. Ronald Lard, 27, of Mishawaka, Indiana, was traveling eastbound on Pine Lake Street when he failed to stop at a stop sign. His vehicle struck another driven by Miranda Myszak, 19, also of Mishawaka, who was traveling southbound on Dailey Road.

Emergency Medical Services assessed both drivers at the scene. Myszak’s passenger was transported to Saint Joseph Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities confirmed all occupants were wearing seatbelts.

Alcohol or drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash. The Edwardsburg Fire Department, SMCAS, and R and B Towing assisted deputies at the scene.

The Cass County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident. Drivers are reminded to obey all traffic signals, particularly at intersections with heavy cross-traffic.
