Joliet, IL – Harrah’s Casino employees discovered a man early Monday who had been shot in downtown Joliet, prompting an active police investigation.
According to the Joliet Police Department, officers responded to Harrah’s Casino at 151 North Joliet Street at 5:08 a.m. after casino staff found a 37-year-old male with gunshot wounds to his legs. The victim was quickly transported to Ascension St. Joseph Medical Center by the Joliet Fire Department. His injuries are considered non-life-threatening.
During the investigation, officers and detectives learned that the victim had been near the east entrance of the Ottawa Street parking deck when a suspect approached from a nearby alley. An argument reportedly ensued, during which the suspect displayed a handgun and fired multiple shots, striking the victim twice. The suspect then fled the area. The injured man managed to walk westbound through the parking deck towards Harrah’s Casino, where he was discovered by casino personnel.
This investigation is ongoing, and authorities believe this was a targeted shooting. Joliet Police are actively seeking information and video footage related to the incident.
