Carol Stream Library to Unveil Rich Lo Murals

Carol Stream, IL — The Carol Stream Public Library will be unveiling two new murals in collaboration with the College of DuPage Waves of DuPage public art installation on Saturday, May 31. The unveiling will be part of the library’s Summer Reading Kickoff event. 

Two Hosukai-inspired and ukiyo-e style murals will be revealed featuring Carol Stream landmarks. During the unveiling, Mayor Frank Saverino, Sr. will speak. The Carol Stream Police Department will serve Blue Scoop from the ice cream cart.  

The ribbon cutting for the mural unveiling will begin at 2 p.m. with speakers from the Carol Stream Library, College of DuPage and Village of Carol Stream. From 2:15 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. residents can enjoy games, coloring, origami and face painting. At 3:30 p.m., there will be a foam party and popsicles from Blue Scoop served by the police. 

Summer reading logs will also be available at the event to be picked up. Kids can earn prizes for minutes read, and adults and teens can earn prizes for the amount of books read. Carol Stream has summer reading events throughout the summer.
