Caribou, ME – Blustery winds and occasional snow showers will impact northern Maine throughout Thursday, creating hazardous travel conditions in parts of Aroostook County. Northwest winds gusting up to 40 mph will cause patchy blowing snow, reducing visibility on local roads.
According to the National Weather Service in Caribou, snow showers will taper off by Thursday evening, with an additional inch or two of snow possible. Thursday’s high will reach 32°F, but wind chills will keep conditions feeling much colder. Drivers should exercise caution on routes like U.S. Highway 1, where visibility may be compromised.
Friday’s weather will be calmer, with mostly sunny skies and highs near 30°F. Winds will weaken to around 15 mph, providing some relief from Thursday’s blustery conditions. Looking ahead to Saturday, a slight chance of snow returns, especially during the evening hours. Accumulations are expected to remain light, with daytime highs around 27°F.
Sunday is forecast to remain cold and mostly cloudy, with highs near 30°F and lows dropping to 16°F by night. The next significant chance of snow could arrive Monday or Tuesday, though early predictions suggest minimal impact.
Residents are encouraged to bundle up and monitor updates from the National Weather Service for changing conditions. Stay prepared by keeping emergency supplies in your vehicle when traveling through northern Maine this week.
