Dublin, CA – A 24-year-old woman died in a bizarre incident on Interstate 580 Saturday night after jumping from a moving car. The incident happened around 8:20 p.m., just west of First Street in Livermore.
According to CHP, the woman leaped out of a black 2018 Audi and fell directly into the eastbound traffic lanes. The Audi driver briefly stopped but then continued without reporting the incident. Several other vehicles struck the woman after she fell into the road, resulting in her death at the scene.
The Audi driver was later arrested in Tracy for felony hit-and-run. Investigators are still trying to determine why the woman jumped from the vehicle. CHP is asking anyone who witnessed the crash or ran over the woman to contact the Dublin office at (925) 828-0466.
Authorities are hoping more witnesses can provide insight into the unusual and tragic event.
