California – A significant snowstorm is hitting California this weekend, with up to 10 inches of snow expected in the Sierra region. The storm, which will affect mountain areas from the Eastern Sierra Slopes to the San Bernardino Mountains, is set to bring hazardous road conditions and gusty winds.

According to the National Weather Service, the snow will begin early Saturday and last until Sunday morning, with snow accumulation expected to reach up to 6 inches below 8,000 feet and up to 10 inches near the Sierra Crest. Winds will also be strong, with gusts reaching 45 mph, causing additional travel risks and potential tree branch damage.

In the San Bernardino County Mountains, including Big Bear Lake and Running Springs, wet snow is expected to accumulate up to 5 inches, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. The snow is likely to create slippery roads and hazardous conditions, impacting both the Friday night commute and weekend travel.

The Yosemite and Sequoia National Parks will also see heavy snow, especially at elevations above 6,000 feet, with up to 10 inches expected. Visitors to these areas should plan for difficult travel and avoid non-essential driving.

The storm will impact several other regions, including the Tehachapi and Grapevine areas, where up to 7 inches of snow is expected. Areas along Highway 395 in Mono County should prepare for snowfalls of up to 6 inches, particularly in the Sierra crest regions.

Travelers should expect delays and use caution, especially when driving through the mountains. For up-to-date road conditions, drivers are encouraged to call 511. Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for most mountain regions until Sunday, and further updates may be issued as conditions develop.
