San Francisco, CA – Rainfall is sweeping through the North Bay today, promising wet commutes before the system clears this evening. As Californians brace for slick roadways, Saturday and Sunday are expected to offer a welcome break with mostly sunny skies.
According to the National Weather Service, the rain began early Friday morning and will persist through midday, with new precipitation amounts expected to range between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. High temperatures will hover around 58°F today, accompanied by south winds between 7 to 11 mph. Travelers should exercise caution on Highway 101 and other major routes due to potentially hazardous driving conditions.
Saturday is set to usher in calmer weather, with sunny skies and a high of 57°F. Winds will shift to the northwest in the afternoon, bringing cooler but more stable air. Coastal residents, however, should heed a high surf advisory in effect throughout Saturday, with dangerous waves along shorelines posing risks for beachgoers and surfers.
The forecast for Sunday through Tuesday calls for a continuation of mostly sunny skies with highs ranging from 59°F to 63°F. Nighttime temperatures will dip into the upper 40s.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the clear weather to prepare for any future storms, ensuring gutters and storm drains remain clear. Beach visitors should stay back from the surfline during Saturday’s advisory.
