Weaverville, Calif. – Residents in Trinity County should brace for freezing conditions tonight, as a frost advisory remains in effect through early Tuesday morning, potentially impacting pets, plants, and pipes.
According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, temperatures are expected to fall as low as 31°F in Hayfork and other cold valley areas of Trinity County, with frost forming between midnight and 8 a.m. Tuesday. The advisory includes Trinity Center, Weaverville, and other interior valley locations most vulnerable to freezing temperatures.
Frost could damage sensitive vegetation and pose a hazard to outdoor pets or unprotected water lines. Officials recommend covering outdoor plants, bringing pets indoors, and insulating exposed pipes.
In Hayfork, overnight lows near 31°F are expected, while Weaverville and Trinity Center may hover around 35°F. This pattern of chilly spring nights continues a trend seen earlier this month in inland Northern California.
The frost advisory is valid through Tuesday morning. Residents are urged to stay updated via the National Weather Service or local emergency channels, as additional advisories may follow if cold temperatures persist.
