Los Angeles, CA – A cold storm is set to bring heavy rain, mountain snow, and possible thunderstorms to Southern California starting Sunday afternoon. Residents in Los Angeles County and surrounding areas are urged to prepare for potential flooding and debris flows, particularly in burn scar zones along the I-5 corridor and foothills.

According to the National Weather Service, a Flood Watch will be in effect from Sunday at 4 p.m. through Monday at 4 p.m. Rainfall totals of up to 1 inch are expected in lower elevations, with up to 2 inches possible in the mountains. Snow levels will drop to 3,500–4,500 feet, with 1–2 inches of accumulation likely in higher areas like Tejon Pass.

The storm’s heaviest rain is anticipated late Sunday into Monday morning. Drivers should use caution, as ponding on roads and reduced visibility are likely. Officials also warn of a 10–20% chance of debris flows near recent burn scars, including Eaton Canyon and the Palisades.

Looking ahead, scattered showers may linger into Monday night before clearer conditions return midweek. Highs will remain in the low 60s Sunday through Tuesday, with lows dipping to the mid-40s at night.

Stay informed by monitoring local weather updates and heeding guidance from authorities if you live in flood-prone areas. Drivers on I-5 or in the San Gabriel Mountains should prepare for hazardous conditions.
