Sacramento, CA – A Red Flag Warning has been issued for large portions of Northern California, including the Sacramento Valley and surrounding national forest regions, with critical fire weather conditions expected throughout Monday.

According to the National Weather Service in Sacramento, the warning goes into effect from 2 a.m. to 8 p.m. PDT on Monday, June 2. Fire Weather Zones 213, 215, 216, 263, and 279 are all included, which span areas such as the Eastern Shasta-Trinity National Forest, Northern and Central Sacramento Valley below 1,000 feet, and parts of the Mendocino National Forest.

Forecasters warn that north to northeast winds between 15 to 25 mph—with gusts reaching up to 40 mph—combined with relative humidity as low as 9%, will create conditions conducive to rapid wildfire spread.

The highest risk area is the Northern Sacramento Valley along and west of the Interstate 5 corridor, as well as the adjacent northern sections of the Coastal Range. Officials are urging residents and visitors in these zones to avoid outdoor burning and to remain vigilant throughout the day.

This latest Red Flag Warning underscores ongoing concerns over dry weather patterns and elevated wildfire risk across California as the summer fire season intensifies. Residents are advised to review evacuation plans, secure flammable materials, and report any signs of smoke or fire to authorities immediately.

Emergency services remain on high alert, with fire agencies preparing for potential rapid deployments if wildfire ignitions occur.
