Quincy, CA — Authorities are actively searching for escaped inmate Caleb Lee Duerr, who fled from the Plumas County Jail on September 27. Duerr, 39, was last seen near an O’Reilly’s Auto Parts store after escaping through two fenced areas of the jail’s yard.
According to the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office, Duerr was able to flee the area and received a ride from someone at the auto parts store. He was dropped off near Highway 70 and County Road A-23, where he was last seen walking southbound.
Several sightings of Duerr were reported between Quincy and Portola, but none have been confirmed. Despite extensive searches using K-9 units and air surveillance, authorities have yet to locate him. Duerr, who is 6’1” and weighs 165 pounds, has short brown hair, a beard, and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing navy blue inmate clothing.
Authorities warn the public not to approach Duerr, as he may be dangerous. Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact the Plumas County Sheriff’s Office or dial 9-1-1.
