Deer Collision Suspected in Deadly Motorcycle Crash in Grundy County

Morris, IL – A Morris man died Monday morning in a motorcycle crash on McArdle Road west of Carbon Hill. The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m. when 69-year-old Thomas Malone lost control of his motorcycle.

Preliminary reports suggest a deer may have collided with the motorcycle, leading to the crash. Malone was traveling eastbound on McArdle Road, about a half-mile east of Jugtown Road. Grundy County Coroner John Callahan pronounced him dead at the scene at 10:55 a.m.

According to the Grundy County Sheriff’s Department, the crash remains under investigation. Investigators are working to confirm the circumstances surrounding the accident and whether the deer played a role in causing the crash.

Motorcycle accidents remain a concern in rural areas where wildlife is abundant. The authorities urge drivers and motorcyclists to be cautious, especially in areas where deer are frequently seen. More information will be released as the investigation continues.
