Weitchpec, CA – A minor earthquake struck Northern California early Saturday, registering a magnitude of 2.5, according to the California Integrated Seismic Network (CISN).

The quake occurred at 1:13 a.m. UTC (5:13 p.m. PST Friday) about 24 kilometers east-southeast of Weitchpec. It had a recorded depth of 35.3 kilometers, suggesting it was relatively deep compared to surface-level tremors.

There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries from the minor seismic event. Residents in the area are encouraged to report any shaking they experienced to the USGS “Did You Feel It?” program to aid in data collection.

Northern California is seismically active, with frequent small to moderate tremors due to its location along major fault lines. Authorities remind residents to stay prepared for larger quakes by securing heavy objects and maintaining emergency kits.
