Buffalo, NY – A Lake Effect Snow Warning has been issued for Northern Erie County, including Buffalo, from Saturday morning to Sunday evening. Forecasters predict heavy snow, with accumulations of 1 to 2 feet in the most persistent snow bands.
The National Weather Service (NWS) says snowfall will primarily impact South Buffalo and nearby southern suburbs, while the Northtowns are expected to see little to no snow. The warning will take effect at 7 a.m. Saturday and remain active until 7 p.m. Sunday.
According to the NWS, travel conditions could be dangerous or even impossible in areas experiencing heavy snow. Reduced visibility and snow-covered roads are anticipated, particularly in the hardest-hit regions. Motorists are urged to avoid unnecessary travel and to drive cautiously if travel is unavoidable.
Residents are advised to prepare for rapidly changing weather and potential delays. Keep emergency supplies in vehicles and dress warmly for the extreme cold.
