Braidwood Plans Road Closures for RC Jr. Comets Homecoming Parade This Weekend

Braidwood, IL – Several streets in Braidwood will close on Saturday, September 14, for the RC Jr. Comets football homecoming parade. The closures will begin at 9:45 a.m. and are expected to last until 10:15 a.m.

According to the Braidwood Emergency Services and Disaster Agency (ESDA), Main Street, Comet Drive, and Mitchell Street will be closed to through traffic during the parade. The closures will stretch from Washington Street (Route 129) to Essex Road, impacting other streets like Caleb and First.

Braidwood police, ESDA officers, and street department staff will handle traffic control throughout the parade route. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes during this time.

Starting at 9:00 a.m., Mitchell Street between Main and First will be restricted for parade participants to allow them to line up. Braidwood officials advise local residents and drivers to plan for possible delays and to avoid the area if possible.

The RC Jr. Comets football homecoming parade is a yearly tradition, drawing both local residents and visitors. Parade-goers should arrive early to find parking and secure a viewing spot along the route.
