Bourbonnais, IL – Aqua has announced that a water distribution system flush will begin Thursday, affecting residents between Washington Avenue and the river. The flushing program, set to last until October 2, may cause temporary water discoloration and lower water pressure for households.

According to Aqua, the process involves flushing fire hydrants to remove naturally occurring minerals that build up in the pipes. While the minerals are not harmful, they can cause water to appear discolored, especially during laundry use.

Aqua advises residents to prepare by flushing their water lines once the system maintenance is complete. Running an outside spigot for several minutes helps clear sediment from your pipes. They also suggest cleaning faucet aerators and flushing your water heater to ensure proper operation.

The flushing will take place daily from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. If you experience service issues, contact Aqua at 1-877-987-2782 for assistance or visit their website for more information. Residents should be mindful of possible disruptions during this time to avoid inconveniences.
