Bourbonnais, Illinois – The Bourbonnais Village Board has given the green light to an exciting addition that’s bound to make winters in this charming Illinois town a whole lot cooler. In a unanimous decision during their latest meeting, trustees voted in favor of acquiring a state-of-the-art synthetic ice rink, set to transform the recreational landscape.
Mayor Paul Schore expressed his enthusiasm, adding the new amenity would have potential to be moved periodically around to different parks for the next few years.
The synthetic ice rink comes with a price tag just north of $131,000, but the burden has been lightened by a generous grant of $50,000 from the Kankakee County Convention and Visitors Bureau. The investment promises to provide endless hours of icy fun for Bourbonnais residents.
In addition to this frosty endeavor, Bourbonnais is also looking to revamp its beloved Riverfront Park. Trustees initiated steps to hire a consultant who will spearhead the development of a comprehensive master plan for the park’s future.
The master plan aims to address various aspects of Riverfront Park, including making it ADA compliant, ensuring the park’s amenities meet the needs of all residents.
The decision to hire a consultant is expected to be put to a vote during the next Board meeting, scheduled in two weeks. With these exciting developments on the horizon, Bourbonnais continues to invest in its community, ensuring its parks remain vibrant and enjoyable for all.
