Massachusetts – Sunshine is fading behind building clouds across Boston this afternoon, and the shift toward a wetter pattern is already underway as showers begin to develop near the evening commute.

According to the National Weather Service, Boston Logan Airport will reach near 76°F today before a 30% chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 5 p.m. Winds around 13 mph will help push storms quickly through the area, bringing brief downpours and reduced visibility.

Drivers along I-93, I-90, and Route 1 should prepare for slick pavement by late afternoon. Even light rain could create sudden slowdowns during peak travel hours. Keep headlights on and allow extra space between vehicles.

The pattern becomes more active midweek. Wednesday brings another round of showers, with rain chances increasing to 60% by evening. Temperatures dip slightly into the low 70s, but humidity remains elevated, supporting additional storm development.

By Thursday and Friday, scattered showers continue with 30% to 60% chances. This means wet roads could linger for multiple days, especially during morning and evening travel windows. Meteorologists now tracking this setup say repeated rounds of rain may limit drying time between systems.

Plan ahead for changing conditions. Keep rain gear nearby and expect on-and-off showers through the end of the workweek.

Cooler air arrives by Saturday, with highs dropping to around 57°F under mostly cloudy skies, marking a noticeable shift from early warmth.

Traveling later today or midweek? Watch for sudden rain bursts and share what you’re seeing on the roads.

Five Day Outlook for Boston, MA
Today: Chance of storms after 5 p.m., high near 76°F
Tonight: Chance of showers, low around 57°F
Wednesday: Chance of showers, high near 72°F
Thursday: Chance of showers, high near 76°F
Friday: Showers likely, high near 73°F
