Boston, MA – A stretch of dangerous summer heat is settling into eastern Massachusetts, with temperatures climbing well into the 90s Tuesday and Wednesday while humidity pushes feels-like temperatures into the upper 90s and lower 100s.

According to the National Weather Service in Boston/Norton, Tuesday will be the hottest and most humid day of the week for much of the region. Inland communities are expected to reach the mid to upper 90s, while areas along the South Coast remain cooler in the 80s because of the ocean’s influence.

The combination of heat and humidity will make conditions feel significantly hotter than the actual air temperature, with heat index values approaching or exceeding 100 degrees in some locations. Overnight temperatures will offer little relief, increasing the risk of heat-related illness for those without adequate cooling.

Forecasters recommend drinking plenty of water, taking frequent breaks if working outdoors, and spending time in air-conditioned buildings whenever possible. Residents should also check on older adults, young children, and anyone without reliable access to cooling, as these groups face the greatest risk during prolonged heat.

The National Weather Service expects Wednesday to remain very hot, although humidity levels may be slightly lower than Tuesday. Temperatures are forecast to ease somewhat by Thursday before another chance of thunderstorms arrives later in the week.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed of the latest forecasts and any heat-related advisories or warnings that may be issued.
