Billings, Montana – A developing storm system will begin impacting travel and visibility across southeast Montana by Sunday evening, with snow west of Billings and a rain-snow mix spreading into lower elevations through early Monday.
According to the National Weather Service in Billings, precipitation chances increase to 60% to 75% from Sunday night into Monday, with the highest confidence west of Billings and across the foothills. Forecasters note uncertainty in the storm track, but both scenarios bring measurable precipitation to much of the region through Monday.
Areas along and west of Billings, including Livingston and Big Timber, are more likely to see accumulating snow, while communities south and east such as Miles City and Baker will experience a mix of rain and wet snow. Portions of I-90 and U.S. Highway 212 could become slushy or slick overnight into Monday morning, especially where temperatures drop closer to freezing.
Drivers should prepare for changing road conditions, particularly in higher elevations where snow may accumulate faster. Reduced visibility is possible during heavier bursts, and travelers should allow extra time and check road conditions before departing.
The system will continue through Monday, with precipitation gradually tapering into Tuesday. Additional updates are expected as the storm track becomes clearer and impacts are refined.
