Austin, Texas – Heat will dominate much of South-Central Texas today, but the stretch of dry weather won’t last long. Drivers along U.S. Highway 90 and south of Interstate 10 could see scattered storms develop midweek, raising the risk of slick roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service in Austin-San Antonio, today will stay partly cloudy with highs in the upper 80s to mid-90s. Rain chances remain low for most areas until Tuesday night, when moisture shifts in from the south. The most likely locations for storms include Del Rio, Uvalde, Eagle Pass, and counties south into the Rio Grande Plains.

San Antonio and Austin will stay hot, with highs near 94 to 96 degrees today and into the workweek. Lows will hold in the 70s, offering only modest relief at night. Scattered downpours Wednesday and Thursday may provide temporary cooling but could also cause ponding on highways, particularly where heavy rain falls in short bursts.

Residents are urged to monitor updated advisories and avoid driving through flooded low-water crossings. Isolated storms may also bring gusty winds and lightning.

Rain chances peak midweek before tapering off into the weekend, though temperatures are expected to remain in the 90s.
