San Antonio, Texas – A Flood Watch remains in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday for much of Central Texas, where heavy rainfall could bring dangerous flash flooding across the Hill Country and along the I-35 corridor.
According to the National Weather Service in Austin/San Antonio, an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is expected, with isolated pockets reaching up to 10 inches in some areas. The most affected zones include Austin, San Antonio, New Braunfels, Kerrville, and surrounding communities. Forecasters say it is difficult to pinpoint where the heaviest rainfall will occur due to the scattered nature of these storms.
Excessive runoff could quickly overwhelm creeks, rivers, and low-water crossings, especially in areas like Fredericksburg, Hondo, and Georgetown. Drivers are urged to avoid flood-prone roads and to never attempt to cross water-covered streets.
Residents should charge devices, monitor alerts, and stay off the roads during periods of heavy rain. “Turn around, don’t drown,” officials warned, emphasizing the unpredictability of flash flooding in this region.
Flood risks are expected to ease after 7 p.m. Saturday, but additional advisories could be issued if storms redevelop or rainfall intensifies.
