Houston, Texas – Southeast Texas is baking under a prolonged stretch of upper-80s to near-100°F temperatures this weekend, with Houston expected to hit 96°F by Sunday and scattered storms continuing into early next week.
According to the National Weather Service Houston/Galveston office, heat will intensify Sunday into Tuesday, with College Station, Conroe, and El Campo also reaching up to 97°F. Rain chances hover between 30% and 40% in Houston and League City through Tuesday, with isolated thunderstorms most likely during the afternoon hours.
Marine conditions are also a concern: wind gusts of 19–20 knots are expected at the Matagorda Entrance, with offshore wave heights holding near 3 feet through Friday. Boaters should use caution, especially near Central Matagorda Bay and Freeport, where steady 14–16 knot winds are expected by midweek.
Inland residents should stay hydrated, limit outdoor work during peak heat, and monitor for possible lightning during pop-up storms. Galveston will offer slightly cooler relief, with highs near 88°F and lows holding steady in the low 80s.
Daily heat and rain chances are expected to continue through next week. The next advisory will be issued Sunday morning.
