Little Rock, AR – A significant weather pattern is shaping up for Arkansas this weekend, with intense heat followed by a potential reprieve. High temperatures on Friday are predicted to be in the mid-90s to around 100 degrees, with heat indices reaching approximately 110 degrees in central and southern parts of the state.

According to the US National Weather Service Little Rock, a cold front will bring slightly cooler and drier air over the next day or so. However, this front is not expected to provide much relief to southern and central Arkansas immediately. Conditions in northern Arkansas should see some improvement as the front advances.

Midnight temperatures on Thursday were reported to be quite high, with areas like Russellville and Fayetteville reaching into the 80s and 90s. The weather service emphasized that while the front will not drastically lower temperatures, it will bring some relief to the sweltering conditions.

Friday’s forecast indicates that central and southern Arkansas will continue to experience excessive heat warnings and heat advisories. Cities such as Little Rock, Pine Bluff, and Hot Springs are expected to see temperatures pushing above 100 degrees, with maximum heat indices even higher.
