Little Rock, Ark. – Severe thunderstorms are expected to sweep across southern and eastern Arkansas Saturday night, bringing damaging winds and hail to 28 counties through 2 a.m. Sunday.

According to the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, a Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for much of the region, including Jefferson, Union, and Ashley counties. Wind gusts up to 70 mph and quarter-sized hail are possible, with isolated power outages and downed trees likely in more vulnerable areas.

Cities like Pine Bluff, Camden, and El Dorado are in the path of the strongest cells, which could also bring heavy rain and lightning. Roadways such as U.S. 425, I-530, and Highway 79 may become hazardous overnight, particularly in low-lying or poorly drained areas.

Residents are urged to stay indoors, charge mobile devices, and secure outdoor items. Emergency managers advise avoiding travel unless necessary, especially in rural or wooded areas where debris could block roads.
