Little Rock, AR – Arkansas residents are bracing for another sweltering day as heat advisories and excessive heat warnings blanket the state. High temperatures are forecasted to reach into the upper 90s, with maximum heat index values soaring well into the triple digits.

According to the US National Weather Service in Little Rock, highs across the state are expected to range from 96°F to 99°F. The heat index values, which measure how hot it feels when humidity is factored in with the actual air temperature, could climb as high as 116°F in some areas. The warning covers regions including Little Rock, Hot Springs, Pine Bluff, and Brinkley, which are under an excessive heat warning, while Fayetteville, Fort Smith, and Mena are under a heat advisory.

Meteorologists are urging residents to take necessary precautions to avoid heat-related illnesses. This includes staying hydrated, limiting outdoor activities during peak heat hours, and checking on vulnerable family members and neighbors. Pet owners are also advised to ensure their animals have plenty of water and are not left in vehicles.

The forecast predicts these extreme conditions will persist through the weekend. Highs are expected to remain in the upper 90s, with only slight relief anticipated early next week as temperatures drop to the mid-90s.
