Little Rock, AR – A powerful Arctic air mass will bring freezing rain, snow, and bitterly cold temperatures to Arkansas early this week. Residents should prepare for hazardous travel conditions and dangerously low wind chills.

According to the National Weather Service, a mix of rain and freezing rain is expected Tuesday, with ice accumulations possible in parts of central and southern Arkansas. Northern areas could see up to four inches of snow. By Wednesday, temperatures will plunge, with highs struggling to reach the 20s and wind chills falling below zero.

Wednesday and Thursday will remain frigid, with lows in the single digits and highs in the 20s. Wind gusts up to 25 mph will make conditions even more brutal. Roads could become icy and dangerous, particularly along I-40 and I-30, where freezing precipitation is likely.

By Friday, conditions will slightly improve, but morning temperatures will still be well below freezing. Residents should stock up on essentials, protect exposed pipes, and limit outdoor exposure.
