Shreveport, Louisiana – Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to roll across the Ark-La-Tex beginning Friday afternoon and continuing into late Saturday night, bringing the threat of damaging winds and hail across parts of Louisiana, Texas, and Arkansas.

According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Level 2 out of 5 severe weather risk is in place for much of the region both Friday and Saturday. Friday’s storms are expected to develop during the day, with Saturday’s activity intensifying mainly overnight. Primary hazards include large hail and strong wind gusts, especially near Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, and El Dorado.

Friday’s strongest storms are expected to fire along and north of I-20, with marginal risk areas stretching into parts of Natchitoches and Lufkin. By Saturday night, heavier rainfall could add localized flooding concerns, particularly in lower-lying areas or poor-drainage zones.

Residents should secure outdoor items, charge mobile devices in advance, and monitor local alerts. Power outages and tree damage are possible in stronger cells. Travel may be hazardous, especially during nighttime storms.

Severe weather alerts remain in effect through early Sunday, and additional watches may be issued as storm timing becomes more precise.
