Phoenix, AZ – Gusty afternoon winds and a noticeable temperature drop will begin impacting travel and outdoor activity across Arizona by Saturday afternoon, with crosswinds developing along major corridors like I-10 and I-8.
According to the National Weather Service in Phoenix, temperatures will fall from slightly above normal Friday into a cooler pattern by Sunday, dropping about 6 to 8 degrees below typical late-April levels. At the same time, daily breezy to locally windy conditions will peak each afternoon and early evening through the weekend.
In the Phoenix metro area, highs fall from the upper 80s to near 90 Friday to the upper 70s by Sunday, with winds increasing during peak travel hours. Along I-10 between Phoenix and Tucson, gusts may create difficult driving conditions for trucks and SUVs. غرب toward Yuma and El Centro, highs drop from near 92 Friday to around 77 Sunday, with similar breezy conditions affecting I-8.
In eastern Arizona, including Globe and Miami, temperatures slide from the upper 70s Friday to upper 60s Sunday. Afternoon winds could impact visibility in open desert areas and complicate outdoor recreation.
Drivers should keep both hands on the wheel during gusty periods, especially in exposed areas. Secure loose outdoor items and plan for cooler evenings.
