Lexington, NC – A routine traffic stop in Davidson County led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive Monday after deputies allegedly found methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.

According to the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office, detectives with the T.R.A.C.E. Team conducted a traffic stop on a 2017 Toyota Camry along Ridge Road and Greensboro Street Extension in Lexington for a traffic violation. During the stop, authorities said the driver was allegedly in possession of methamphetamine and related paraphernalia.

The driver, identified as 39-year-old Adam Badgett of Salisbury in nearby Rowan County, was taken into custody at the scene. Deputies said Badgett was also wanted as a fugitive through the National Criminal Information Center (NCIC) on multiple charges, including felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, and felony probation violation.

Badgett was transported to the Davidson County Jail, where he was held without bond due to an existing pretrial release status tied to unrelated charges. Court records indicate he is scheduled to appear in court in April 2026.

Under North Carolina General Statute 15A-532, officials noted that judicial authorities—not law enforcement—determine conditions of release in criminal proceedings.

The investigation remains ongoing. Authorities have not released additional details about the traffic stop or whether further charges could be filed.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
