Phoenix, AZ – A Hawai‘i woman accused of violating a court order involving her 6-year-old daughter is the subject of Arizona’s first-ever Turquoise Alert, issued Wednesday as authorities believe the pair is now in the state.
According to the Hawai‘i Police Department, 48-year-old Sarah Coultas of Pa‘auilo is allegedly wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant following a July 19 report involving her daughter, Violet Coultas-Benson. Officials say credible information placed the two in the Phoenix area, triggering coordinated efforts with Arizona authorities.
Coultas is described as 5 feet 11 inches tall, weighing 160 pounds, with straight brown hair and hazel eyes. Violet, described as 3 feet 10 inches tall and 43 pounds, was last seen in a white shirt, pink jacket, pink sweater, light-colored shorts, and white shoes. She has blonde hair and hazel eyes.
According to the Arizona Department of Public Safety, the Turquoise Alert was created under Emily’s Law, passed in May 2025, to help locate missing and endangered individuals under 65. Violet’s case met the alert criteria due to her age, the unusual nature of the disappearance, and her believed proximity to a potentially dangerous adult.
Authorities are urging anyone with information on the whereabouts of Coultas or her daughter to contact the Hawai‘i Police Department at (808) 935-3311 or Detective Carrie Akina at (808) 326-4646 ext. 278. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
The Hawai‘i Police Department has thanked Arizona officials for their swift cooperation in this first-of-its-kind alert.
