Alert Neighbors in Streator Lead to Arrests in Residential Burglary

Streator, IL – Thanks to the vigilance of two neighbors, Streator police arrested an adult female and a juvenile male in connection with a residential burglary on Monday evening. The suspects were apprehended around 8:40 p.m. after being caught inside a home on the 500 block of East Broadway Street.

The homeowners were out of town and had asked friends to check on the residence. The friends noticed lights on inside the house, a change from their last visit. As they approached, they saw two individuals inside who did not belong there. When confronted in the backyard, the intruders fled, but the couple noticed that the woman was holding a drill taken from inside the home.

According to Streator Police, the neighbors provided detailed descriptions, leading to the suspects’ swift arrest nearby. The victim, contacted by phone, confirmed the theft, and officers found the home in disarray. In addition to the drill, police recovered a makeup mirror that had also been stolen. The adult female and the male juvenile now face charges of residential burglary and criminal trespass.
