Anchorage, AK – Alaska experienced a series of five earthquakes within hours of each other, shaking various parts of the state. The quakes, which occurred on Tuesday, ranged from 2.5 to 4.8 in magnitude.

According to the United States Geological Survey (USGS), the first quake registered at a magnitude of 2.5 and struck 128 km SSE of McCarthy, Alaska. This was followed by a magnitude 2.8 earthquake 17 km SSW of Susitna, and a magnitude 3.0 earthquake 41 km NW of Ninilchik.

A larger quake, with a magnitude of 4.8, hit 69 km SE of False Pass, Alaska. The seismic activity culminated with a magnitude 2.5 quake near McCarthy, just hours after the first one.

USGS data shows these quakes occurred in a region known for seismic activity. Although the quakes were relatively minor, the close timing has raised concerns among residents. Authorities have not reported significant damage or injuries, but they continue to monitor the situation closely.

Alaska, situated on the Pacific Ring of Fire, frequently experiences earthquakes. Residents are reminded to stay prepared for potential aftershocks. Further information and updates can be found on the USGS website.
