Birmingham, AL – Warm and dry conditions will persist across central Alabama through most of the workweek before a late-week system brings rain and possibly a few thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Birmingham.

High pressure will dominate the region through Thursday, keeping skies mostly sunny and afternoon highs in the low to upper 70s. Overnight lows will generally fall into the 50s. Winds will stay light, making for comfortable and pleasant days.

Rain chances return Friday afternoon and evening as a cold front approaches from the west. The NWS says a few storms could develop overnight into early Saturday, though widespread severe weather is not expected at this time. Showers will taper off by Saturday afternoon as cooler air moves in behind the front.

By Monday, temperatures are expected to drop noticeably, with highs in the 50s and lows in the 30s and 40s.

Forecasters encourage residents to enjoy the mild weather early in the week before the shift to wetter and cooler conditions this weekend.
