Huntsville, Alabama – North Alabama is heating up with several days of sunshine and highs near 89°F, but a slight chance of thunderstorms returns Thursday afternoon. The dry stretch will last through Wednesday, making this the warmest start to the week the region has seen since early May.
According to the National Weather Service in Huntsville, temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 80s each afternoon, paired with mostly sunny skies and calm winds. Monday through Wednesday is expected to stay dry, with no severe weather in sight. However, a weak front on Thursday could bring isolated storms, particularly in the afternoon and early evening, with a 20–30% chance of rain.
Cities like Decatur, Florence, and Athens can expect near-record heat for early June. Outdoor plans, construction projects, and school activities will continue uninterrupted, but residents are advised to stay hydrated and limit strenuous activity during peak heat hours. The UV index will also be high, so sunscreen is recommended.
Storm chances rise slightly late Thursday, and another update from the NWS is expected Wednesday evening.
