Paducah, Kentucky – A stretch of stormy weather is poised to hit western Kentucky beginning Wednesday, with the potential for 2 to 4 inches of rainfall and a daily chance of thunderstorms through at least Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, storm chances rise to 70% in parts of the state starting midweek, with rainfall totals expected to climb steadily due to multiple rounds of showers. The highest threat spans from Cape Girardeau to Madisonville and into Murray, where flash flooding could become a concern in low-lying areas.

Localized flooding may impact portions of I-69, the Pennyrile Parkway, and secondary roads in southern counties like Graves, McCracken, and Christian. Drivers should plan for reduced visibility and ponding water during commutes. Residents are advised to clear drains and stay alert for changing conditions.

This marks the most active stretch of weather since mid-May, as warm, humid air collides with incoming disturbances. While Monday will remain mostly sunny with highs near 86°F, hazy skies from Canadian wildfire smoke may linger.

The threat of thunderstorms continues through Saturday, with more updates likely midweek as models refine rainfall totals and storm severity.
